You will hear more about Ms. Powers next week.
Ever read Jane Eyre? Well, it’s about this girl who had a really lousy childhood. I think she was an orphan or something. Anyway, she grows up and goes to work for this guy—he’s very rich and handsome and sexy and everything, but he’s also really dour and broods a lot. So of course she falls in love with him. At some point she gives up and tries to fall in love with some other guy—he’s a priest or something—maybe one of those Anglican or Presbyterian types who can actually get married—anyway, he goes off to Africa to be a missionary or something. I forget if he tells her not to come with him or if she just doesn’t want to go, but that’s beside the point, because she goes back to live with the rich guy, only by now you find out that the reason he was so brooding and melodramatic all the time was because his insane first wife was living in his attic and one night she got really pissed and set the house on fire. He tried to save her but she died and he ended up blind and one-handed, so of course Jane feels sorry for him and of course he falls in love with her and of course they live happily ever after.
Anyway, my point is, I hope you don’t wait until you have some sort of horrible accident or something before you decide that it’s OK for me to love you, because I can tell you right now I’m not going to take it as gracefully as she did, that’s for sure.
It's OK for Magdalen Powers to love us.
